Ban on BGMI news is on verge

Speculations have arisen regarding a potential ban on BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India) following a report published by News18. According to the report, the Union government’s cyber security team has recommended blocking the popular mobile game in the country. The team is concerned about the safety of users’ data, as BGMI’s servers are currently located in the United States.

To address these concerns, the cyber security agency has sent a detailed query to Krafton, the game’s publisher. A meeting between the agency and Krafton is scheduled to take place in the coming weeks. The news of a possible ban has caused worry among the game’s fans.

However, renowned streamer Naman ‘Mortal’ Sandeep Mathur has advised fans not to panic and to await official confirmation from Krafton and Indian government officials. In a recent vlog, Mortal stated, “In my opinion, you should not think too much about it (rumors of BGMI’s ban) and not be sad. There is no official information regarding the ban. The official news from me is don’t be sad.”

Other streamers and gamers have also reacted to the ban rumors, echoing Mortal’s advice to fans. As of now, Krafton has not released an official statement regarding the cyber security investigation of users’ data.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time Krafton has faced such a situation. In September 2020, PUBG Mobile, the predecessor to BGMI, was removed from the Google Play and Apple Store in India due to similar concerns about user data. Other applications, including TikTok, have also been banned in the country for similar reasons.

Battlegrounds Mobile India was launched in June 2021 after making changes to address the government’s concerns. Unfortunately, it was banned in July 2022. Krafton then met with officials and relaunched the game in May 2023. The future of BGMI will depend on the outcome of the meeting between Krafton and the central government’s cyber security team.

In 2023, Krafton hosted three major esports tournaments, including the India vs Korea Indian event, which saw the attendance of the South Korea ambassador to India and CEO of Invest India. The company is now preparing to host the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2024, and numerous popular organizations are gearing up for this prestigious competition.

The decision regarding BGMI’s fate will be made after the meeting between Krafton and government officials. Until then, fans are advised to remain patient and await official updates.
