Actor Lee Sun-kyun of Oscar winning “Parasite” movie Found Dead
Actor Lee Sun-kyun, known for his role in the Oscar-winning movie “Parasite,” has tragically passed away. The South Korean emergency office confirmed the news on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. Lee was discovered lifeless in a car at a central Seoul park.
Earlier in the day, the police had received a report from Actor Lee Sun-kyun’s family stating that he had left home after leaving behind a message resembling a suicide note. Authorities had been searching for him when they found an unconscious Lee at an undisclosed location in Seoul. Later, it was confirmed that Lee had been found dead in a car at the park. Police also discovered a charcoal briquette in the passenger seat.
Lee rose to international fame for his portrayal of the head of a wealthy family in the critically acclaimed film “Parasite.” His performance earned him recognition and accolades, including a Screen Actors Guild award in 2021 for “cast in a motion picture.” He was also nominated for the best actor category at the International Emmy Awards for his role in the sci-fi thriller “Dr. Brain” the previous year.
Prior to his success in “Parasite,” Lee had been a familiar face on Korean screens for many years. He gained popularity through his roles in various drama series, such as “Coffee Prince” (2007), “Behind The White Tower,” “asta” (2010), and “My Mister” (2018).
The sudden and tragic loss of Lee Sun-kyun has left the entertainment industry and fans worldwide mourning the talented actor’s untimely departure. He will be remembered for his exceptional performances and contributions to the Korean film and television industry.
