Aditya Mathe Joins Team 8bit Ahead of BGIS 2024
On March 21, 2024, Aditya Mathe, a well-known player in the BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India) community, made a surprising move by leaving Godlike Esports and joining Team 8bit. This decision comes just weeks before the highly anticipated Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2024 tournament.
Aditya’s move to Team 8bit is seen as an opportunity for him to make a strong comeback after a period of struggle. Team 8bit has recently recruited Mac, who also previously played for Godlike Esports. The fact that these two players have experience playing together in the past is expected to help them lead the club to success in the BGIS 2024.
Team 8bit’s decision to sign Aditya is part of their efforts to strengthen their BGMI lineup following a disappointing run in the past two months. The club faced criticism from fans for their initial decision to sign Blax, but later reversed that decision.
Aditya’s esports journey began in 2019 with PUBG Mobile, where he quickly gained attention for his skills. He played for Team Xspark in the second half of 2020 and led his club to victory in the PMCO Fall Split India. He then joined OR Esports, where he played for around two years and achieved notable feats, including a second-place finish in the BMPs 2022, an official BGMI major.
Although Aditya joined Godlike in November 2023, he was not a regular member of the playing four in many tournaments. Under the captaincy of Jelly, whom he had previously played with in OR Esports, Aditya aims to leverage his wealth of experience to perform better for Team 8bit.
The grind stage of the BGIS will begin on March 4, 2024, and Team 8bit will be directly invited to this stage. With a massive prize pool of ₹2 crore, the BGIS is a highly prestigious tournament. Team 8bit partnered with CS Esports for the BMPs 2023, where they finished sixth. However, that partnership was only for that event. So far in 2024, the club has had a below-average run, finishing 21st in both the ESL BGMI SPS and the iQOO Pro Series, and 19th in the Skyesports Championship Series.
