Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme 2024: Boosting the Electric Scooter Market
The Ministry of Heavy Industries has introduced the Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme 2024, aimed at promoting the adoption of electric vehicles in India. With a total budget of Rs. 500 crore, this scheme focuses on incentivizing the purchase of electric two-wheelers, among other vehicles.
Under the scheme, electric scooters are set to receive a significant benefit of Rs. 10,000 each. This translates to a total of 3,33,387 scooters being eligible for the Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS) 2024. It’s important to note that the scheme is only valid from 1st April to 31st July.
The introduction of this scheme is timely, as the previous government subsidy for electric vehicles, known as the FAME II subsidy, is set to conclude at the end of this month.
