What Went Wrong with Apex Legends Mobile?
After the successful release of Apex Legends Mobile on May 17, 2022, Respawn Entertainment aimed to establish itself in the mobile gaming scene. However, their dreams quickly turned to disappointment as the game was shut down less than a year later on May 1, 2023. The game faced numerous bugs, glitches, and technical issues, leading to its downfall. Some speculate that the developers rushed the release, resulting in an unfinished and unpolished version.
Will Apex Legends Mobile Return in 2024?
Unfortunately, Apex Legends Mobile will not be returning to any platform, including Android and iOS, in 2024. As of now, no official statement has been made regarding its return. However, in the third quarter financial year report of 2023, Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson hinted at a “reimagined and connected” version of Apex Legends in the future. Since then, there has been no further news from the company regarding the title.
Issues with Apex Legends Mobile
EA and Respawn decided to enter the mobile gaming scene by releasing Apex Legends Mobile, following the success of games like COD Mobile and PUBG. The game was launched in the middle of 2022 on all mobile platforms, including Android and iOS. While it provided a refreshing experience for mobile gamers, it was plagued with optimization issues, bugs, and frequent server crashes. Although the developers addressed these major issues by the end of 2022, other popular titles in the genre had already surpassed Apex Legends Mobile.
The developers admitted that they failed to deliver the desired level of quality, quantity, and cadence to the community, leading to the decision to permanently shut down the servers. Despite fixing most of the major issues, instead of expanding the market and addressing community concerns, the developers chose to discontinue the mobile version and focus on the PC version.
In conclusion, Apex Legends Mobile faced significant challenges, including technical issues and fierce competition from other popular titles. While there were hopes for its return, as of now, there is no indication that it will be making a comeback in 2024.
