The one-month Challenge Season of the ESL BGMI Pro Series 2024 came to an end on Friday 4, with the top 16 teams securing their spots in the Grand Finals. However, it was a disappointing outcome for fan favorite GodLike Esports, as they were eliminated in a dramatic fashion that left everyone stunned.

Led by Jelly, the BGMI lineup of GodLike Esports fell short of occupying a place in the LAN Finals by just a single point. Despite securing 270 points in their 36 matches, they ended up in 17th place on the overall points table. Genxfm Esports managed to secure the final spot, edging out GodLike Esports by a mere point.

During the last few circles of the end game of the Challenge Season, Mac from GodLike Esports engaged in a heal battle. The club needed just nine points in the final game to secure their place in the LAN Finals. Unfortunately, Mac was unable to survive long enough and was eliminated by the blue zone, despite having 18 med kits. He managed to claim eight points by finishing fourth in that match.

On February 4, Pukar from Entity Gaming explained the reason behind Mac’s elimination from the last game. According to Pukar, ESL had informed each team before the start of the third week of the Challenge Season that zone damage would be increased by 1.1x in the upcoming matches. This meant that players wouldn’t be able to survive in the blue zone after the sixth circle. Unfortunately, Mac and the team were caught off guard by this change.

GodLike Esports’ failure to secure a spot in the LAN Finals highlights the struggles the organization has been facing in the competitive scene. Despite adding Jelly, Aditya, and Macto to their BGMI lineup, they were unable to make an impact in this first major tournament of the year.

The LAN Finals of the BGMI Pro Series 2024 are set to take place from February 16 to 18 in Noida. While GodLike Esports may have missed out on this opportunity, they will undoubtedly be looking to bounce back and make a strong statement in future tournaments.
